GPS & Cases
PrecisionEarth does not sell hardware, but we are asked by customers all the time how best to configure their hardware to take advantage of PrecisionEarth when soil sampling. With that in mind, below find hardware suggestions believe adds value to our software.
1) Bad-elf GPS: www.bad-elf.com
2) Garmin GLO: www.garmin.com
3) Dual: www.dualav.com
Rugged cases: we take our iPads and iPhones everywhere with us around the globe and into some very harsh environments. Definitely not doing that with the fancy flip covers. We use the following:
A) Griffin Survivor Case to protect our hardware and it is Mil-spec 810F rated. At about $80, it is a great insurance policy for dropping it, scratching it, and splashing your iPad or iPhone. To find out more visit http://www.griffintechnology.com/armored look for the Survivor Case.
B) Otterbox Defender Series cases to protect our hardware. At about $90, it is a great insurance policy for dropping it, scratching it, and splashing your iPad or iPhone. To find out more visit www.otterbox.com look for the iPad-2-Defender-Series-Case.
Ram Mount: All this software is no good unless the iPad/iPhone in the hard case and upgraded bad-elf GPS is held securely to your platform. Be it your ATV, tractor, car, or plane Ram mount seems to have the right mount. We like the Tab-Tite since it holds the iPad with all this armor securly even on the roughest roads or fields. Hope this helps and look forward to your suggests on what we should add to this page.
